Bierman’s Best Bets – Week 3 NFL
Well Sandman Nation, we’ve started off well in the college game, but have come slow out of the gates with our NFL picks. But that all changes this weekend as I’m feeling good about our slate below. So let’s get to it and bounce back strong! *All lines come from DraftKings Sportsbook.
Patriots at Jets (-6.5)
The Patriots suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Seahawks at home. Under rookie head coach Jerod Mayo, they’ve exceeded expectations but continue to struggle with offensive consistency. Meanwhile, the Jets’ defense, though not statistically dominant yet, has the potential to be suffocating. I expect them to clamp down on the Patriots’ offense. On offense, Aaron Rodgers may not be in his prime, but with playmakers like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, the Jets rank 9th in yards per point and are poised for a breakout performance. Look for New York to win by double digits in this one.
The Pick: Jets -6.5
Giants (+7) at Browns
The Browns pulled out a close road win against Jacksonville, and DeShaun Watson finally looked like a competent starting quarterback. Their defense, a strong suit, sacked Trevor Lawrence four times and disrupted him throughout the game. On the other hand, the Giants came up just short in a nailbiter against Washington. The silver lining for New York is the emergence of Malik Nabers as a promising playmaker. While Daniel Jones is not the long-term solution at quarterback, Devin Singletary’s near 100-yard rushing performance gives the Giants a chance to keep this game close. With neither team standing out, seven points in the NFL is too much to ignore, so I’ll take the Giants to cover.
The Pick: Giants +7
Packers at Titans (-2.5)
I’m sticking with the Titans, especially at home, giving less than a field goal against a shaky Packers team. Malik Willis was serviceable in guiding the Packers to a 16-10 win over the Colts, but that was at home in Lambeau. Now, they face the Titans, who rank first in total defense this season. Tennessee’s defense will put immense pressure on Willis, likely forcing him into turnovers. With Will Levis finally finding his rhythm, the Titans’ offense should do enough to cover the spread.
The Pick: Titans -2.5
Bears at Colts (-1)
Just as I’m backing the Titans, I’m firmly on the anti-Bears bandwagon. The Bears pulled off a bad beat by kicking a late field goal to cover against the Texans, but they are simply not a good team. Caleb Williams will eventually find his groove, but for now, he struggles with anything beyond short throws and looks uncomfortable in the pocket. Now, he faces another tough road test at Lucas Oil Stadium, and the Bears rank 31st in total offensive yardage. I expect Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson to heat up and lead Indianapolis to its first win of the season.
The Pick: Colts -1
Commanders at Bengals (-7.5)
The Bengals bounced back from a tough opening loss to the Patriots by nearly defeating the Chiefs at Arrowhead. Despite their 0-2 record, the Bengals looked like the better team in that game. They’ll be motivated and hungry when they host the Commanders, especially in a primetime home game. Jayden Daniels has been impressive for Washington, but if the Bengals can contain his running ability, they’ll force him into mistakes. Joe Burrow and company typically shine in primetime at home, and I expect them to secure a comfortable double-digit win on Monday night.
The Pick: Bengals -7.5
