Sandman golf: Crush & Fade – Truist championship
Welcome back to Crush & Fade – your weekly guide to PGA Tour picks, fades, and a quick look in the rearview mirror.

Scottie. Enough said.
+280 didn’t offer much value—especially with Jordan Spieth next at +1700—but Scottie was dominant, just as predicted. Chalky? Yes. Satisfying? Absolutely. A win’s a win, and that one felt good.
This Week: Truist Championship
The Tour heads to Flourtown, PA and the Philadelphia Cricket Club (Wissahickon Course)—a tight, tree-lined 7,000+ yard Par 70 that should play tough in this Signature Event.
Worth noting:
- Rory McIlroy is the defending champ… but that was at Quail Hollow (2024 Wells Fargo), not this venue.
- He is wearing the 2025 Green Jacket, though.
- And Scottie Scheffler? Not in the field. The only top-10 player sitting this one out.
All that leaves Rory at +400 and looking like the man to beat. And honestly? I like chalk again.
Sandman Top Bets (CRUSH Plays)
This week feels like betting first-timers at a small-track horse race—not a ton of course history, but we know who the horses are on Tour.
CRUSH: Rory McIlroy WIN +400
He’s confident, in form, and with no Scottie in the mix? Rory might just cruise.
CRUSH: Justin Thomas WIN +1600 / Top 10 +205
JT’s found his form again. The irons are hot, and when he hits greens, he’s rolling in birdies. Love where his game’s at.
CRUSH: Andrew Novak Top 10 +375
Sneaky value. After a missed cut in Houston, he’s gone T3, 2nd, and 1st in April. Riding that heater.
Fade of the Week
Picking fades is trickier – no bet to cash, just guys to stay away from. Last week I doubted Jordan Spieth, and for two rounds, I looked smart. Then he got hot. That’s golf.
This week’s FADE: Ludvig Åberg
Yes, he’s a robot. Yes, he’s a stud. But he’s been inconsistent, and he’s never played this course.
