MLB Power Rankings: Week of June 29

While the All-Star break is still ahead, the MLB season has reached its mathematical halfway point. Teams have largely separated into three groups: legitimate World Series contenders, clubs fighting for a playoff spot, and those already turning their attention to the trade deadline.

Here's the latest edition of our MLB power rankings.

1. Brewers

The Brewers led baseball in wRC+ and starting pitcher xERA in June. Only two teams have a better record over their last 30 games. Milwaukee is cruising atop the NL Central and shows no signs of slowing down.

2. Dodgers

Just for a change, the Dodgers are running away with the NL West. It's a 10-game lead for the defending champions, with very few signs of weakness so far. They remain the clear favorites to win this autumn's World Series.

3. Phillies

Since May 2, Philadelphia has gone 34-17. The rotation has been formidable and the bullpen is among the best in the majors, but there are still some holes in the lineup. Look out for aggressive moves from the Phillies at the deadline.

4. Rays

Winning five games in a row has put the Rays back atop the AL East. They've been one of the luckiest teams in baseball according to their Pythagorean record, but wins on the board still matter.

5. Yankees

Even with a cold lineup and a rotation ranking in the bottom 10 in xERA in June, the Yankees sit only one game behind the Rays. It's a case of treading water with so many key players on the injured list.

6. Marlins

What's happening with the Marlins? Miami has gone 18-6 in June. The offense has been fine, but the pitching staff has been outstanding, with both the rotation and bullpen ranking near the top of the league. A playoff push is very much in play.

7. White Sox

The perennially underwhelming AL Central has the White Sox tied for the lead past the halfway mark of the 2026 season. Regression from the pitching staff feels inevitable, but the lineup is legitimately good.

8. Cubs

It's been a season of peaks and valleys for the Cubs. Breaking out of their slump in a big way, Chicago has gone 12-4 over its last 16. Underperforming infield bats and pitching injuries remain a concern.

9. Astros

Only seven teams have a worse Pythagorean record than Houston. They rank fifth in record over their last 30 games, though, and sit only one game off the AL West lead.

10. Nationals

Still above .500, the Nationals are picking up wins even with one of the worst pitching staffs in the majors. The lineup has cooled off lately, but they should stay in the wild-card mix.

11. Mariners

Half a game back in the AL West, Seattle has won just eight of its last 20 games. Still, the Mariners have more upside than any other team in the division. They will be dangerous over the next few months if the lineup heats up.

12. Cardinals

Losers in six of their last 16, the Cardinals have a 24.1 percent chance of making the postseason. They're probably a .500 team at best when it's all said and done.

13. Rangers

Maybe 13th is a bit harsh for a team leading the AL West. Then again, the Rangers haven't exactly been setting the world on fire, and they are tied for the 17th-best Pythagorean record as of June 29.

14. Pirates

There's a lot to like about this Pittsburgh team. The lineup is legitimately great, with one of the best wRC+ marks in June. The rotation is potentially top five in baseball, and they could be a real contender if the bullpen gets reinforcements at the deadline.

15. Braves

Atlanta is on a 4-12 slide. They have a 65 wRC+ in June and sit only three games ahead of the Phillies. There's time to get back on track, but this has the makings of a spectacular collapse.

16. Twins

The Brewers are the only team with a better offense than the Twins in June. If Minnesota had even a competent pitching staff, it would be a serious challenger in a weak AL Central.

17. Orioles

Baltimore's bullpen has been strong lately. There are too many weaknesses elsewhere on the roster, though, and several everyday players are struggling at the plate. Winning 80 games would be a nice outcome from here.

18. Guardians

A 13-17 record over their last 30 games, and a sub-.500 Pythagorean record, don't suggest Cleveland is heading toward contention. The pitching staff isn't dominant enough to make up for such a quiet offense.

19. Red Sox

A surge from Boston's pitching staff hasn't been matched by any improvement from the lineup. Still, their Pythagorean record is six games better than their actual mark, so some improvement is possible.

20. Padres

On a 12-19 slide, the Padres' bullpen hasn't been the force it was earlier in the season. The lineup remains cold, and the rotation has been one of the worst in baseball over the last few weeks. A playoff spot is far from certain.

21. Diamondbacks

Tied with the Padres for the worst record over the last 30 games, Arizona has struggled in every area. Ketel Marte becomes an intriguing trade candidate if the Diamondbacks don't turn things around in the next couple of weeks.

22. Angels

Going 19-15 is worth getting excited about for the Angels. It's a big step in the right direction after falling to 17-34, and the bullpen's improved performance could open up trade opportunities.

23. Athletics

There's just a whiff of .500 about the Athletics. The lineup has some genuinely great hitters, but there are plenty of holes. The pitching staff doesn't look capable of winning even in a weak division.

24. Blue Jays

Six losses in a row have left the Jays 10 games behind the AL East-leading Rays. Injuries can't really be blamed at this point either, with most key contributors back on the roster.

25. Tigers

Fourteen games below .500, the Tigers have been one of the unluckiest teams in baseball according to their Pythagorean record. There were encouraging signs throughout June, but the deficit is probably too large to overcome now.

26. Reds

Since the start of May, Cincinnati has gone 19-32. There's not much to like about the offense. The pitching staff is desperately missing Hunter Greene, with Chase Burns the only arm really living up to expectations.

27. Mets

A run of one win in nine games has ended any hope that the Mets could get their season back on track. New York is now out of contention and facing some difficult trade deadline decisions.

28. Giants

Buster Posey is listening to offers for everyone except Logan Webb. It's the right call for an expensive, disappointing Giants team that has never looked like a contender.

29. Royals

There just aren't many positives to take from the Royals' season outside of Jac Caglianone's production. It's a roster with the talent to perform much better than this.

30. Rockies

A familiar position for the Rockies, who own the worst winning percentage in the majors. The offense has been good lately, which is at least something for fans to enjoy. Everything else remains bleak.
